Infinite Opera

Opera Company

Infinite Opera is a Birmingham-based company created by Roxanne Korda and Daniel Blanco Albert, which creates new operatic works, inspiring audiences to learn more about opera, science, philosophy and the world around them.

Infinite Opera was formed at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire in summer 2017 and in less than two years they have created two brand new full-length operas, several performances and events, collaborations with art galleries, as well as a broad range of workshops and activities for the public, collaborating -among others- with the Welsh National Opera and the Institute of Physics.

Their opera prima Entanglement! An Entropic Tale, based on current concepts from physics, is a cosmic exploration of life and death, creation and destruction, and the importance of living life in the present: deeply connected, Electron and Positron long to touch but doing so would mean their annihilation. Guided by the nihilistic and reckless Entropy, their search for identity and meaning leads to black holes, parallel universes, encounters with the laws of physics – and ultimately the end of the universe as we know it.

We are working with Infinite Opera to explore how our scientific practice can influence the creative process and how performing arts can impact science dissemination by presenting concepts and ideas -as mad as they can be!- through art. Professor Bill Chaplin is co-supervising Daniel’s PhD in Interdisciplinary and Collaborative Music Theatre (which he is taking at Birmingham City University through the Midlands4Cities Doctoral Training Partnership).
